When are we going to realize that we are in serious need of tough fiscal decisions. Their is no more time for political pandering to be played by either side anymore. When you listen to Democrats and Republicans speak about cutting our national debt or deficit you hear about cuts in education, health care, and investment in infrastructure. You will never hear about cuts in military spending, Medicare or Social Security which account for the vast majority of our annual deficit. We also pay $170 billion a year for the two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and that's not including the $667 billion a year we already spend on our military alone. Oh yea we also have to pay a little bit of interest on our $14 Trillion dollars in debt. Is your head spinning yet ?
If a good majority of the European nations are on the brink of financial collapse what makes us different? We are $14 trillion in debt, are economy is growing at a slower pace and Americans are living longer which is putting strains on Health Care and Social Security. What am I missing, why do we think we are different? I think we need more up front and honest politicians like Governer Chris Christie from New Jersey. You might not agree with what he has to say but at least it's an open honest debate of the facts.
